Responsibilities
Sponsors of expat workers in Saudi Arabia are required, as per the Saudi Passport and Immigration (Permits) Law, to maintain the completeness of their workers’ documents, including the Iqama, annual medical insurance, exit visa or final exit visa, and other necessary documents.
A person inquired about the accuracy of the name in a Jawazat Twitter post, stating: ‘The worker who recently obtained a new visa and Iqama has the name written three times on the card. How can this be corrected?
In response to the inquiry, Jawazat recommended scheduling an appointment at a nearby Jawazat office to correct the name on the Iqama.

Required Documents
At the appointment, the worker should bring their Iqama card, passport, a photocopy of the passport, and a completed form to the permits office where the appointment was scheduled.
According to the regulations, the foreign worker’s sponsor or a representative with a certified power of attorney must personally visit a Jawazat office in order to request a correction to the worker’s name on their documents.
It is important to note that, per the Permit Law, the worker is not allowed to personally visit any Permit Office for matters such as residence permits, exit visas, return visas, or final exit visas.
Sponsor Power of Attorney
According to the regulations, the worker’s sponsor or a representative with a certified power of attorney issued by the sponsor must personally visit a Jawazat office in order to request any changes or corrections to the worker’s documents.
However, the worker is allowed to personally visit the Legal Affairs Office to handle matters related to their family, as the worker is the sponsor of their family and can issue, renew, or request Iqamas for their family members. For other matters, the worker must have their sponsor or a representative with a certified power of attorney visit a Jawazat office.
