Here are ways to close your bank accounts in SBI and HDFC banks.

Closing the bank account, either savings or current is quite easy; however, it can sometimes be difficult. To close a bank account, you must physically go to your branch and apply for closing. SBI and HDFC banks don’t have an option to close bank accounts online; you can download the account closure from the bank application and submit the request to close the bank account physically.

What things are needed to close a bank account in SBI and HDFC Bank?

Here are the things you are required at the time of closing the bank account

• Address and ID proof.
• Closure letter, which you can download from the SBI or HDFC bank’s official platform.
• Cheque book.
• Debit Card.
• Passbook.

After submitting these details to your bank account, you are required to fill out some forms, and you will be able to close your bank account easily.

What are the charges for closing bank accounts in SBI and HDFC banks?

There is no charge for closing a bank account by SBI and HDFC bank; however, if you close the account within 15 days to 1 year of opening the account, SBI charges Rs.500, including GST, for closing the account. For closing HDFC bank from 15 Days to 6 months, you are charged Rs. 1000 including GST, and for closing from 6 months to 12 months, you are charged Rs. 500 and closing after 12 months includes no charge.
