UAE: Free Driverless Taxi Rides in Abu Dhabi – Gulf Insider

Abu Dhabi has announced that self-driving taxi rides in Yas Island and Saadiyat Island will be free during the Eid Al Adha holiday.

The Taxi service was launched in 2021 and sees autonomous electric vehicles cruise the popular Abu Dhabi neighbourhoods, taking in prime tourism and lifestyle locations.

The safe and secure transport will also be free during the holidays, announced the city’s Integrated Transport Centre.

In a tweet on official social media channels, the ITC said: “Visitors to Saadiyat & Yas Island during the Eid al-Adha holiday can take advantage of the completely free self-driving vehicle service called Txai.

Visitors and residents can benefit from self-driving taxis with ease. All they need to do is:

  • Download the smart Txai app
  • Select the date, time and pick-up/drop-off locations
  • Enjoy a free ride
