Saudi: Mother Referred to Public Prosecution After Video of Torturing Child Goes Viral – Gulf Insider
The Eastern Province police referred the case of a mother, who was accused of torturing her daughter, to the Public Prosecution. Police took action against the woman after the video of the torture went viral on social media.
The spokesman of police in the Eastern Province said that police monitored the incident after watching the circulated visual content about a child being subjected to violence and beaten by her mother. “The case was investigated in coordination with the Family Protection Unit of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution after completing the legal procedures,” he said.
The spokesman called on the public to report any cases involving child abuse by making a call over the phone 1919, so that the necessary measures will be taken to protect children by the specialized committee.
There are 17 committees that work continuously in various parts of the Kingdom to protect children as well as to take punitive measures against abusers.
