Oman: Five Arrested for Shopping With Fake GCC Currencies – Gulf Insider

Al-Buraimi Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with Al-Dhahirah Governorate Police Command, has arrested five citizens on charges of shopping with fake GCC currencies.

They used the counterfeit currency to make purchases from several shops in Al Buraimi Governorate.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that it is completing the legal procedures against them.

Article 175 of the Omani Penal Code stipulates: “Whoever counterfeits, in any way, a banknote or coin legally circulated in the country or in another country, forges national public bonds, or promotes any of them knowingly, shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of no less than 5 years and not exceeding 15 years.”
